George Avery started as an auto body technician and painter in Southern California before spending 37 years with State Farm. He began as an estimator, managed the auto estimating curriculum in the company’s Learning and Development department, ran its Repair Facility Advisory Council and, from 2005, represented State Farm to the collision repair industry until retiring in June 2016. He chaired the Collision Industry Conference in 2013 and 2014. He was National Auto Body Council vice president in 2008 and president in 2009 and 2010, when he proposed the council’s President’s Award.
