Emil Stanley was publisher of Automotive Body Repair News, now ABRN, and worked to raise the professionalism of collision repair through education. He was a strong advocate of the International Autobody Congress & Exposition, NACE, the trade show sponsored by the Automotive Service Association. To honor him, ASA established the Emil Stanley Merit Award, first presented in 1991 and administered with the Automotive Management Institute, which sends an employee of an ASA collision member business to NACE for management education. He died in 1989 and was inducted posthumously.
